We've been enjoying the lovely summer just pottering around.
Picking home grown sweet peas
Enjoying the sunshine
There's plenty of time for those niggling jobs ..... no excuses
Playing with watercolours in my shed
Stopping off for the afternoon in York on our way up to Newcastle to see our daughter, we took a tour round the wonderful minster
Some Tour de France bunting still lingering in the narrow streets
Fish and chips at Tynemouth with this fabulous view
A walk along Newcastle quayside at night
The Tyne bridge all lit up
Joining in with Lights Out to remember the start of the Great War of 1914
Saying goodbyes as our son and his girlfriend head back to uni after a short break at home
Giving the bird table a make over with a few coats of paint
Amused by this sunflower which has flourished even though it was never planted
I blame the birdseed.
We don't feel retired yet.
We're used to having a long summer holiday in teaching, although we don't often spend it at home.
I don't think we'll feel any different until the new term starts in September - and we don't go back!

That's when you know you've retired, when you just keep on doing what you want to do and not what you have to do come September!
ReplyDeleteThe bird table is looking very smart and those sweet peas are so pretty.
Enjoy your painting!

I just found your blog and I have to say I love it!
ReplyDeleteHow exciting that you and your husband recently retired from Teaching, I'm a teaching assistant working on a Science degree and I'd like to actually teach science. I look forward to following your blog and see where your days take you!
I hope you have a great week,
Tammy
OH and I love your garden and your shed!! So lovely!
ReplyDeleteLooks like you've had some lovely days. That picture of the Newcastle quayside is great, not somewhere I've ever been - other than an abortive and stressful drive past the university with first son about 7 or 8 years ago. I just remember getting caught up in a complicated road system which felt decidedly hairy and thinking I would avoid driving there again! Think I can almost smell those sweet peas - beautiful!
ReplyDeleteWishing you lots of happy days ahead. I'm jealous!!!! ;-) Ros
